// OVERVIEW
Background
The company was in the midst of expanding its offerings, aiming to create a more comprehensive suite of products. At the core of this expansion was a Chrome Extension Wallet, a product designed to complement their existing mobile solution. Notably, at the time, this wallet was the only true multi-network wallet available, making it a groundbreaking entry into the Web3 space.
This marked their first foray into Web3 development, requiring an approach that combined deep technical learning with strategic design thinking. The project’s dual goals were to:
Create a seamless and efficient wallet experience for crypto experts.
Introduce features and usability improvements to attract beginner users, expanding their user base.
Process
To tackle this ambitious project, we adopted a structured and iterative approach:
We began by thoroughly learning the Web3 landscape, gaining hands-on experience with blockchain mechanics, transaction flows, and wallet functionalities. This foundation enabled us to perform a competitor analysis, identifying market gaps and understanding user interactions with existing solutions.
The core challenge—designing for network and ecosystem switching—required workflows intuitive enough for crypto experts yet accessible to beginners. Our inclusive design approach balanced advanced features with simplified user experiences to cater to a dual audience. The project was executed in two phases: designing the Chrome Extension Wallet as a user-friendly, lightweight solution, and subsequently expanding into additional product suites based on learnings from Phase 1.
Outcomes
The project delivered significant outcomes that enhanced the company’s position in the Web3 space. We created a scalable design system, ensuring rapid and consistent development across products. The introduction of network and ecosystem switching features revolutionized the user experience, catering to both advanced and beginner users while improving transaction flows by adopting innovative industry practices.
These advancements not only expanded the company’s Web3 portfolio but also attracted a diverse user base, positioning the wallet as a leading solution for multi-network use cases and solidifying the company’s reputation in the market.
Reflections
This project marked a pivotal milestone in Web3 design and provided invaluable learning opportunities. As a key contributor, I bridged technical insights with user-centric design, shaped strategies for an emerging product, and delivered scalable solutions that balanced immediate needs with long-term goals.
Despite a modest user base of 7,000 today, the wallet extension has received rave reviews for its usability and impact. The continued maintenance of the broader product suite highlights its enduring value. This project not only transformed our team into Web3 specialists but also reinforced the importance of adaptability and user understanding in creating innovative solutions.
